JESUS, WHAT A REVOLUTION!

BRING YOUR HEART TO MASS. EVEN WHEN LIFE FEELS MESSY!

Bring your whole week to Jesus: its joys, tiredness and fresh starts. The Gospel helps us come before him honestly.

Do you know that moment when you finally sit down in church? Outside are the traffic, errands and notifications. Inside, everything else catches up: a worry, a thank you, someone you miss. You can begin there, with what is in your heart.

Mass is an encounter with Jesus, who gives himself in the Eucharist. It is a time to receive his love and learn to carry it into daily life, even after a difficult week, even when words are hard to find.

Two people and a prayer that speaks to us

In Luke 18, a Pharisee and a tax collector pray in the Temple. One compares himself with others; the other entrusts himself to God’s mercy. At the Angelus on 23 October 2022, Pope Francis invited us to acknowledge humbly who we are and what we need.

This passage can become a gentle question: what would I like to entrust to the Lord today? A struggle I keep hidden? Something for which I need forgiveness? A joy to share? We can answer honestly, without trying to make a good impression.

Faith grows through small gestures

Perhaps you will go home to a conversation you still need to have. Laundry to hang out. Someone to call back. There you can carry something of this encounter: listen to the end, apologise, make time for someone who is waiting.

These are everyday steps. Sometimes we manage them; sometimes we lose patience within five minutes. We can begin again and ask for help. Christian life includes this patient faithfulness too.

Make room for your week

Next Sunday, try bringing one specific intention: someone’s name, something you are grateful for, a situation in which you need guidance. You could write it on your phone before going in, then put the screen away.

When you leave, choose one possible action: an overdue call, an invitation, some practical help. Prayer can continue in the world waiting outside the door.

Jesus, here I am. This is my week; this is my heart. Help me listen to you and love more sincerely. This simple prayer is our suggestion at CHIARA!: make it your own, using the words of your day.
