A LITTLE CAR ON THE WAY TO TREATMENT: THE GIFT FROM RICKY’S FAMILY
In Parma, a family remembers Ricky by donating a space for young patients and a little electric car. A practical gesture to make the time before treatment more welcoming.

A little electric car in a hospital can have a special destination: taking children to the treatment room. In Parma, the family of Riccardo, known as Ricky, donated one along with the furnishings for a space designed for children and those accompanying them.
It is called Ricky’s Room, the paediatric waiting room in the new Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre at Ospedale Maggiore. The official release is dated 21 October 2026: the room had already been opened, but the exact date is not given.
A memory that makes room for others
The contributors are his mother Giulia Agnesucci, father Simone Babboni, relatives and friends, together with Giocamico, which designed and organised the furnishings. Vittoria offered the first help: her Confirmation gifts became a small bed.
The family’s gesture honours Ricky’s memory. Giulia knows the weight of waiting and describes how much it meant, during her son’s treatment, to find people and places that could welcome the whole family. Now she wants to offer that closeness to others.
Children, first of all
This is where the story reaches us. Before treatment there is time to get through: that deserves attention too. A place designed for people waiting can say, through very practical things: we have thought about you as well.
Play does not erase the difficulty of treatment. But it can find a place alongside that difficulty. And remind adults of something precious: a child still brings wishes, curiosity and a need for company into hospital.
Ricky’s Room gives that care a practical form. A shared gift carrying his name and opening a space for other families.
