LICIA COLÒ: “WE NEED TO SLOW DOWN”. NATURE SHOWS US HOW
There is too much anger around, says the familiar voice of environmental television. In her view, the remedy is within reach: spending time with nature and learning its rhythms.

How many angry people do we meet each day? In supermarket queues, in traffic, in social media comments. Licia Colò starts with this question when she talks about spending time in nature: following its rhythms, pausing to look, letting go of some of that anger. Slowing down. When did you last give yourself a moment like that?
A life spent telling the planet’s story
Licia Colò is 64 and one of Italy’s best-loved television presenters on environmental issues. She currently hosts “Eden – Un pianeta da salvare” on La7. The programme for Saturday 10 October 2026 listed her among the guests at Parma’s Fragile Festival, with a scheduled conversation with Letizia Triglione about how the media tell nature’s stories.
In the interview, she discusses her connection with the environment: how it began, what sustains it and why, in her view, nobody should give it up if they want to feel well in body and mind.
Wellbeing, yes — for everyone
One question stays with us: what is the point of talking about a long, healthy life if we do not take care of the world in which we hope to live it? And why pursue new habits to feel better if our wellbeing does not extend to the people, things and nature around us?
This is an idea familiar to people of faith. Caring for creation is not a hobby reserved for a few enthusiasts: it is a way of giving thanks for the gift we have received and safeguarding it for those who come after us.
Try slowing down too
You do not need to travel to a distant forest. Start with a walk in the park without headphones, ten minutes on a bench watching the trees, or a look at the sky from your window over breakfast. Switch off notifications, breathe and listen.
You may not change the world in an afternoon. But you might come home carrying a little less anger. And, as Licia Colò reminds us, that is already a very good start.
