MAX LAUDADIO: WHAT IF HAPPINESS WERE SOMETHING ELSE?
When I get there, I will be happy. Perhaps we do not put it quite like that, but sometimes we organise our days around this promise: a job, a home, an achievement that should finally put our inner lives in order too. Then we arrive and discover that the question has followed us.

We know Max Laudadio's television face. Yet his public account also contains a search that reaches further: encounters, nature, freely given acts of kindness and faith. On 13 May 2026 he discussed it on TV2000's L'Ora Solare, presenting the journey gathered in his book Il Cantico delle formiche. La melodia dell'anima.
In his public account and the publisher’s presentation, Laudadio returns to the choices that changed his life. The video lets us hear his own voice—and find questions for our lives, too.
A search larger than the face we recognise
Published by TS Edizioni in 2025, the book takes inspiration from the Canticle of the Creatures and brings together autobiography, spiritual reflection and civic engagement. The publisher's presentation places the search for happiness in encounters and generosity, beyond popularity and money.
The experiences it mentions include moving with his family to the woods of Cuasso al Monte, in the Varese area, and the founding of Associazione ON. His journey also includes a passage from atheism to faith. TV2000 presents it as a return to essentials developed through a long search.
In his story, a change of place accompanied a personal search. Listening, we might think of where we feel able to pause: a path, a church, a quiet corner at home. Where is yours?
What are we waiting for before we feel enough?
Here CHIARA!'s reflection begins. You can want an achievement without feeling ashamed: a more stable job, better pay or recognition for a project. These desires may concern very practical needs. Dismissing them with an invitation to be happy with little would be disrespectful.
The question changes when that achievement becomes our only permission to feel good about ourselves. Until then, everything seems a rehearsal. People already present, a lovely conversation or a kindness received slip to the edges because they are not yet the life we imagined.
A testimony can help us see this risk without pretending to know us. What good are you postponing until you have finally sorted everything out? What do you already love about your days, even if it does not match the picture of the future you carry in your head?
Essentials are not identical for everyone
For someone facing financial difficulty, essentials may mean reaching the end of the month, receiving care or sleeping in a safe home. For someone else, they may mean reducing optional commitments, freeing time or no longer seeking approval through every achievement.
These are different situations and deserve different words. A well-known person's story does not authorise us to measure the generosity or faith of someone unable to afford a change. We can hear it as an invitation to look at our actual lives and the responsibilities they contain.
A small choice can be serious too: honouring a time of rest, keeping a promise, returning to an interest left aside or giving attention to a relationship. None of these needs to become a new list that leaves us feeling behind.
Faith involves a relationship, not only an atmosphere
Faith has an explicit place in the journey Laudadio describes. Reducing it to well-being, peace or love of nature would miss something. For a Christian, it concerns encountering God, prayer, the Gospel and a way of being with others.
Nature can open a space for listening, but it does not replace every other dimension of believing life. Likewise, an encounter can set questions moving that take time. We do not need to invent an instantaneous revelation to make a journey more engaging.
Watching the original appearance lets Max keep the pace and tone of his own account. We can carry a question with us after the video ends: what, in my life, makes me feel present rather than constantly waiting to arrive?

Perhaps listening will bring to mind a person, a place or a decision you have long postponed. You do not have to decide everything now. You can begin by naming what matters and asking whether you have really made a little space for it within an ordinary week.
