CLOTHES DON’T MAKE THE SAINT

THIS BAG HAS COME A LONG WAY: FROM CLASSROOM TO MILAN!

A fashion-school concept becomes a real object. Jasper takes us behind the scenes of design—and invites us to look again at our everyday bag.

A bag joins your life and soon knows everything: the missing keys, the receipt at the bottom, the book added at the last minute. Before it could accompany you, somebody had to imagine it. Where does it open? How do you hold it? What happens when it is full? Jasper, the new proposal from 10 Corso Como, catches our attention at precisely that point: when an idea starts negotiating with everyday life.

Before the window, a project

The story starts with A Signature for the Logo Collection, a 2024 project with Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Petra Fagerström’s concept became Jasper, developed by 10 Corso Como as a limited edition in its Milan store and online. From notes to a shop window: quite a journey for an idea.

An idea has to learn to sit in your hand

Drawing a shape is a beginning. Then come practical questions. Can you open the bag while holding your phone? Is the handle comfortable over a thicker sleeve? Can you find things? Ask those questions of any accessory, including one bought years ago. A photograph shows a silhouette. To understand whether that shape will accompany you, imagine your own morning inside it.

Two elements, different possibilities

Jasper combines an outer body with a removable pouch that can be used separately, while the handle switches from double to single. Crinkled nylon, eyelets and rivets shape its look. What would you keep in the pouch to find it quickly?

Try your five essentials

Take your most-used bag and put five indispensable objects on the table—the ones you actually carry. Return them to the bag and observe. Does your phone have an accessible place? Do the keys knock against anything? Can you remove your wallet without dragging everything else with it? A pouch you already own may gather the smallest items together. Try that arrangement for a day before buying more organisers; the answer may already be in a drawer.

One detail changes the outfit

Try three outfits: jeans and a simple knit to give the bag space; a statement coat to compare carrying it by hand or at your side; an evening version with less inside. Use your own clothes at the mirror: a combination you love may already be there.

Look the price in the face

Jasper costs €880: a significant price to consider alongside what you want from a bag. Do you like the shape? Would the removable pouch be useful? Picture your book, wallet and those keys that disappear at the bottom.

What about the bag you already have?

Before closing the wardrobe, spend a minute with your usual bag. Empty it, look at the seams and lining, and consider whether a small repair could make it enjoyable again. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions; different materials require different care. This need not become an elaborate project. Rediscovering a forgotten accessory can change how an outfit feels.

Try it with your coat, without rushing

When assessing a handle, imagine time spent standing as well. A quick moment at the mirror cannot describe a whole day. If you see a bag in person, ask to inspect its opening and compartments, check its measurements and consider holding it with your usual clothes. You need not fill a shop bag without permission: bring a list of what it must contain. That helps you ask precise questions instead of relying entirely on first-sight excitement. If no configuration feels right, leaving it there is also a style choice.

Something to take away without shopping

For us, the best part is the passage from an idea to an everyday gesture. Someone imagined an object; now it meets people with different habits. Next time a bag catches your eye, look a little longer. Then picture your keys, your book and the hand searching for your phone. That is where design begins a conversation with you.
