Eighty cats, so many kind hearts: Borgomaro’s team of care!
One report, many helping hands and a colony needing daily care. In Borgomaro, Liguria, people working together have changed the story of around eighty cats.

A full bowl, a clean patch of ground, another day when someone shows up. Kindness can look like this. In Borgomaro, in Italy’s Imperia province, around eighty cats have found a network of people willing to care for them.
It began with someone speaking up
The cats were found in distress on 2 May 2026. Some had been left without food in a house; others had been kept in carriers. Aiutiamo i Gattini Dianesi stepped in alongside local institutions and residents.
Small actions, shared effort
There is a lovely next chapter to the rescue: the cats are free and neutered. The municipality funded twelve neuterings and Asl 1 Imperiese another four. Food donations, fundraising and a €450 raffle helped care for the colony.
A happier ending takes daily work
Volunteers still bring food, clean the site and prepare a feeding point for winter. Rescue also means continuing to care, long after the first urgent intervention.
Want to lend a paw?
Ask a local association what it actually needs: food, supplies, transport or time. For this colony, the organisation named by the source is Aiutiamo i Gattini Dianesi. Contact its own channels to confirm any donation arrangements.
St Francis invites us to value living creatures. You can start with something within your reach: listen to carers, respect animals and keep showing up. Even a bowl can tell a story of care.
