MOVE AT YOUR PACE!

That workout feels made for you? Seven questions before training with an influencer

A video can make you want to move. Before following it, learn who is on the other side of the screen and whether the programme leaves room for you.

The playlist is perfect, the room beautiful. The instructor smiles, explains and makes you want to put down your phone and try. A video can awaken curiosity, introduce an activity or make beginning feel closer.

Between enjoying a video and deciding a programme suits you is room for questions. You need neither automatic suspicion nor trust based solely on liking someone.

Back in the top ten, with a distinction

In the ACSM 2027 report, published on 20 October 2026, influencer- and ambassador-led programmes rank tenth, after twelfth in 2025 and outside the top twenty in 2026. They have the industry’s attention. What should we look for before following a workout on screen?

Want to try that workout? Keep these seven questions next to the play button. A few checks can help you understand who is teaching and what you are about to follow.

1. Do I know who is teaching?

Look for a name, education, declared qualifications and area of competence. A biography consisting of personal transformations describes a journey without explaining preparation to guide others. Ask for missing information; precise answers help clarify the service.

2. Does the video explain its intended audience?

‘For everyone’ sounds reassuring but leaves questions. Is it introductory? Does it assume familiar movements? Include jumping, wrist support or fast floor transitions? Read and preview before starting. A beginner label does not explain everything.

3. Are genuine alternatives explained?

Variations should be shown clearly rather than mentioned during a fast sequence. Can you follow the explanation and pause? Are different options offered without judgement? Your right to rest does not depend on motivational editing.

4. Is there a pathway, or only a challenge?

A video collection can be enjoyable. A programme should also explain where to begin, which sessions to choose and how to progress. Before subscribing, examine levels, support and cancellation terms. Keep the conditions you accept.

5. What promises are being made?

Notice dramatic deadlines, identical guarantees for everyone and messages turning a body part into an urgent defect. Content can invite curiosity without making you feel wrong or promising a transformed life by Friday.

6. Is this advice or a commercial offer?

Partnerships, discount codes and paid programmes do not automatically make content bad. Recognise them, however. Check what is included, recurring costs and whether a purchase is necessary. You can decide after the countdown ends.

7. How do I feel after following this account?

Have you learned something? Feel curious and free to adapt? Or does each video suggest you are behind and must catch up? These questions do not measure technical effectiveness; they reveal your relationship with the content.

Trust grows through details

Look for understandable explanations, stated limits and respect for differences. A recorded video cannot observe you or adapt in real time. For specific needs, consider qualified guidance that can.
