IN A SWEATSHIRT, WITH A MIND OF THEIR OWN! MEET THE WOMEN OF COMO
The Como players in a new Nike Studio Fleece feature: people, style and three combinations to try with a sweatshirt you already own.

Your sweatshirt is on the chair, you have five minutes before leaving, and the usual question comes up: “Can I wear it tonight, too?” We would start with another one: do you like how you feel wearing it? A comfortable piece can have character, accompany different days and leave you free to think about something else. A date, a project, a match. Or simply the person you want to meet for coffee.
Martina Viesti, Nadine Nischler, Veronica Bernardi and Flaminia Simonetti of F.C. Como Women appear in Nike Studio Fleece photographs by Carmine Romano. Nike introduced the line in July 2026, bringing sportswear shapes into everyday outfits. Let’s give our own sweatshirt a different evening too.
Before the outfit, there are people
We want to start with their names, because there is a person inside every sweatshirt. Sport does not become less serious when it meets fashion, and a woman does not have to choose just one image to present to others. We can be focused on work and enjoy experimenting with an outfit. Compete, study, train and find a photograph fun. These are parts of the same day, not mutually exclusive roles.
Looking at the pictures, try a small exercise: notice the gesture, posture and way the women stand together before looking at the clothes. That is different from immediately searching for a product name. A fashion feature can introduce people and stories; taking inspiration does not require buying the exact piece shown. Your own sweatshirt, the one you already know, is an excellent starting point.
First outfit: a busy day
Try a crewneck sweatshirt with straight-cut trousers and shoes you can genuinely walk in. If you like, let the edge of a T-shirt or a shirt collar show. There is no obligation to add layers: choose what feels comfortable, considering your journey, the places you will be and what you need to do. Your outfit should accompany the day you actually have, rather than the one in a photograph.
Before leaving, sit down and move your arms. Does the shirt pull underneath? Is the neckline uncomfortable? Does your bag slide off your shoulder? These practical observations are not always available from standing still in a mirror. If something bothers you, change it. A successful combination also means not having to keep adjusting it. And shoes you love should not become an endurance test.
Second outfit: meeting for coffee
If you want to mix shapes, pair a soft sweatshirt with a skirt you already own. Straight, full, short or long: look at the overall effect and choose proportions you enjoy. Try leaving the hem loose, then folding it slightly, without turning either choice into a rule. A small bag or a pair of earrings can change the rhythm of the outfit, too.
No body needs permission to wear a particular combination. If the proportions do not appeal to you, change one element without judging yourself. A more fluid fabric, different shoes, an open jacket: these are possibilities, not corrections to a flaw. The aim is to recognise yourself, rather than look like somebody else or prove that a skirt and sweatshirt must always work together.
Third outfit: a casual invitation
For dinner without a particular dress code, try a sweatshirt under a jacket with trousers you like. Check that the sleeves do not bunch up and that the hood, if there is one, leaves you comfortable. A thinner sweatshirt may be easier to layer; a very roomy one can take centre stage. This is a suggestion to explore with your own wardrobe.
If the invitation does specify clothing, find out beforehand: general advice cannot replace context. And you do not need to make every sweatshirt “dressy” to give it value. It can remain your piece for walks, travel or an afternoon on the sofa. Choosing not to transform it is a style choice, too. Versatility is useful when it serves us, rather than becoming another task to complete.
The detail that matters when you try it on
In the fitting room, look at how it sits on your shoulders, where the hem ends and how much room it gives you. “Oversized” and “fitted” describe an intended shape, but the result needs to be considered on the individual garment. Read its composition and care instructions; ask whether they suit your habits. Do you want something to wear often or a piece for particular occasions? Neither answer has to be right for everyone.
The Como players offer the starting point; we decide the rest in front of our own wardrobes. We can borrow an idea, discard it and try again with another colour. Then go out, think about our plans and meet someone. Clothes accompany a person: they need not become a permanent examination. In a sweatshirt, with your thoughts clear or still coming together. There is room for both kinds of day.
