DO SOME GOOD!

SOME PEOPLE GIVE A MEDICAL APPOINTMENT. LIKE A PAY-IT-FORWARD COFFEE.

A health benefit can become difficult to deal with even for its cost. The Bank of Visits collects donations to help people in difficulty to access visits and examinations.

The prescription's in the bag. Sometimes you find her looking for keys, you put her back and you think you should take care of it. The cost of a service, a difficulty in traveling, the time to organize: when resources are few, even asking for a visit can become a concern to be added to the others.

It is a situation that can affect very different people. Who has lost an income, who supports a family, who lives a complicated moment and does not know who to tell. And there is a project that has chosen a family formula to make concrete the help: the Bank of Visits, inspired by suspended coffee.

The idea is this: someone gives, someone else can receive a health benefit. The official website describes a path that links contributions, requests and medical centers. A gesture of solidarity thus becomes something very precise: an appointment that a person needed to face.

A coffee left paid, but for health

According to the presentation of the organization, the project was born in 2017 to apply the suspended coffee logic to medical visits and services. The donations collected support people who cannot afford a specialist service for a fee or face travel difficulties.

The What We Do page describes the possibility of choosing a joint visit or a free amount. The sums are reserved for benefits; those who need them submit a request through the indicated route. Bank of Visits also describes the booking at a centre and the payment of the service on behalf of the user.

This is the explanation of the project, not the promise that every request will find immediate response. In order to know what possibilities are available in your own situation and in your own territory you must contact the organization through its official channels.

The need can be closer than you imagine

When we talk about economic difficulties, we risk always thinking about someone very far from our lives. A person could tell you for months only the part he can handle. He shows up at work, answers messages, asks how you're doing. The waivers remain out of the conversation.

That's why the way we offer information also counts. You can report a reliable project with discretion, leaving the person the right to decide whether to deepen. You don't need to ask about your health details to prove that you're interested. You can be available without turning into someone who controls or approves of his need.

If you seek help, a request does not diminish your dignity. You can consult the information and figure out what steps are needed. You don't have to tell your story to every acquaintance: the personal data should be shared only with the competent subjects, through the channels provided.

Before giving, know the route

On the website of the Bank of Visits you can find the presentation of the activity, the ways to contribute and the contacts. Taking time to read them can help you choose consciously. If something is unclear, you can ask for an explanation directly from the entity.

A donation can be proportionate to your possibilities. You must not put in trouble the necessary expenses of your family. You can also share an official page with someone looking for information, avoiding alarming messages or promises that the project did not.

It is important to leave performance management to the organisation and health professionals. The giver does not choose a person's care and should not expect access to his or her medical history. Trust also grows by respecting these boundaries.

A gesture of good that has a concrete meaning

As CHIARA!, we read this possibility also in the light of Christian closeness to the sick. In Matthew's chapter 25, Jesus links the encounter with him to the care of people in need. It is a question to our faith: what can we do for someone's concern to find real support?

For a believer, this can give charity a practical shape: noticing a need and helping to meet it. Paying for someone else’s appointment puts time, attention and care within reach.

Solidarity can begin with a figure, but also with attention. Make it clear that a person is sending something back, asking if he wants company, offering you for a task that you can actually do. Each gesture requires listening: what you imagine might be different from what you need.

The project is told in a video

Below you can see the official video of the Bank of Visits, Give a visit, improve a life!, incorporated also on the organization's website. It is a presentation of the project, distinct from a testimony collected by CHIARA!: a way to approach the proposal through the story of those who promote it.

If you wish to contribute or inform yourself, you can start from the official website of the Bank of Visits ↗. Reading, asking, understanding what possibilities exist. The gesture of suspended coffee is familiar to us because someone has thought of a person who did not yet know. Here that thought can meet a need for health, with all the care and seriousness it deserves.
