Twenty, fifty or eighty? Like that dress? Wear it!
“Not at my age.” How often have you said it to your reflection? Fashion's age rules are overdue for retirement. Here is how to dress with joy at every age.

“I like it, but at my age…” That thought alone can send a dress back onto its hanger. A colour feels too bright, a skirt too short, jeans too young: sometimes judgement comes before we even try something on.
A birthday does not decide what you can wear. Nor must you always look confident, elegant or cheerful. Clothes can adapt as your routines, tastes and body change, without becoming a test.
Start with your day
What will you do in this outfit? Walk a long way, take public transport, sit for hours? Try it with your life in mind: sit, take a few steps and raise your arms if you can. Movement reveals comfort as much as the mirror does.
Context matters too. A ceremony, work and a walk may call for different choices. That helps you choose; it does not rank people by their clothes.
Colour has no expiry date
If red appeals but you are unsure where to start, try a scarf or top with trousers you already wear. Prefer neutral shades? Keep choosing them. Freedom also means not feeling obliged to be bold.
You do not need to replace your whole style to experiment. Trying something on or making a new combination from clothes you own may be enough.
Your body does not have to fit a label
Clothes that pinch or need constant adjusting may simply have the wrong cut for you. Try another size, another shape or, where worthwhile, a small alteration. The label helps you choose a garment; it says nothing about your worth.
That outfit waiting in the wardrobe
This week, revisit something you love but put away only because it felt “no longer for me”. Try it without any obligation to keep or wear it. You may rediscover it, or find you now prefer something else.
