MOVE AT YOUR PACE!

The gym's in the park! Fitness in Verona makes room for more people

A bike, a rowing machine, a space to move together. At the Gardens Raggio di Sole comes a small outdoor gym: a piece of town where you can find a place, each with its own rhythm.

The new outdoor fitness equipment at the Giardini Raggio di Sole in Verona

See you at the park? It's one of those invitations that leaves room: a chat, a walk, an afternoon without complicated programs. In Verona, now, it can also mean trying a small outdoor gym. On the 22 October 2026 was presented the new fitness area of the Raggio di Sole Gardens, built in the public green with equipment designed also for a shared use by people with and without disabilities.

The news has a very concrete dimension: a place, machinery, a space that enters the life of the neighborhood. For those who pass by, the opportunity can begin with curiosity. Stop to look, read the directions, see if there is an activity suitable for your possibilities. Even the first encounter with movement can have this simplicity.

What you find in the new area

The project occupies about 100 square meters and includes three stations, with anti-trauma flooring. Two are dedicated to cardio work and strength; a multi-exercise structure allows free-body activities. Among the facilities listed by the Municipality there are bikes, rowing machine, press and leg press.

The names may seem like a tool room, but the first thing to do in front of a car remains very daily: understand how to use it. See the instructions on the spot and any limitations indicated. If the movement or position is not clear to you, asking a qualified person for an explanation is a good way to start. You can also decide that day you prefer simply to walk.

Inclusion: a word that must become experience

In the municipal description, inclusive equipment is designed for contemporary use by users with and without disabilities. It is a feature of the project; the suitability of the individual tool to its needs must be verified on the spot.

For a reader who approaches a new space, the questions may be different: can I easily reach it? Do the supports allow me a comfortable position? Can I understand the directions? Do I need help? To value these questions means to take the reception seriously. A gym becomes closer to people even when it allows them to choose quietly.

And he who accompanies can begin by listening. Do you want me to stay here? Giving the other person the time to respond makes the company more respectful. It goes to the park, to the gym and in the many small situations in which we would like to help.

How this piece of town is born

The intervention was carried out by Fresenius Kabi through the municipal programme of sponsorship of green areas. At the presentation, some CUS components and athletes showed exercises with new equipment.

A demonstration during the inauguration helps to get to know a space. For subsequent visits, however, it is advisable to check separately the presence of instructors or organised appointments: the existence of tools does not amount to a continuous course.

Fitness can be found in the day

In the ACSM Report on Trends 2027, published on October 20, traditional strength training takes fifth place. It is a survey among professionals in the sector: it describes a general direction and does not measure the use of this park.

The Verona case also suggests an interesting question to those who live elsewhere: what opportunities for movement already offers my neighborhood? There could be a path in the green, a public structure, an association with activities suitable for those who start. Looking for them allows you to start from something close and consider how to really insert it in the week.

A date, no rush

If you are curious to try with a friend, arrange a simple meeting and let yourself be free to change your mind. One may want to know the tools, the other prefer the park tour. Finding yourself later preserves the pleasure of being there, without asking both of us to do the same thing.

The beauty of a public space is also here: it can accommodate different rhythms. There are those who are already used to physical activity and those who are beginning to devote a little time to it. A place where you can feel welcome can make it easier for me to come too.
