PSST… IT HAPPENED!

GIORGIA PALMAS AND FILIPPO MAGNINI, EXTRA JOY ON THE RED CARPET

At the presentation of The Traitors, they talk as contestants and expectant parents. Their baby is due in March: between a challenge and a name kept private, a family is preparing to welcome someone new.

For one evening, in front of the photographers, Giorgia Palmas and Filippo Magnini are contestants in a new programme. Yet another adventure soon enters their answers: the baby they are expecting. Television has a launch date and the game will have rules. At home, there is an anticipation already filling their thoughts and changing how they picture the months ahead.

The couple attended the presentation of The Traitors, the reality programme hosted by Alessia Marcuzzi and announced for Prime Video from 6 November. Both Giorgia and Filippo are in the cast. Their first red carpet after announcing the pregnancy combines work with the personal happiness they have chosen to share.

‘We are grateful to life for this new life’

The pregnancy announcement came on 5 October in a social media post. Giorgia showed her bump and shared the emotions of these weeks. Since then, her words have revealed more about this time: the surprise, thoughts about the baby and the joy of talking about it with Filippo.

Back then, Giorgia and Filippo wrote: ‘We are grateful to life for this new life.’ Now, describing the wait, Palmas speaks of ‘an incredible gift’. Two simple expressions conveying their amazement without needing a perfect fairy tale.

The baby will be Giorgia’s third child and the couple’s second together. There are already Sofia, from her previous relationship with Davide Bombardini, and Mia, born to Palmas and Magnini in 2020. A family with different ages, habits and stories, preparing to make room for another little person.

A name chosen, but still their own

Palmas has said they are expecting a boy, due in early March. They have already chosen a name, but are keeping it private. It is a particularly touching detail: after sharing such big happiness, you can still choose to keep a piece of it for yourself.

Anyone who has announced a baby’s name before the birth may know the debate that follows. It reminds someone of a school friend; someone else proposes another name or asks why they did not choose the grandfather’s. Everyone joins in, often affectionately. But the decision still belongs to the people making it.

Not knowing the name does not stop us being happy for them. Closeness does not require knowing everything. Sometimes it means accepting that an answer will come later, when the people involved feel ready to share it.

Husband and wife can compete in a game

At The Traitors presentation, Giorgia described their competitiveness by mentioning games at home, from cards to Monopoly. Being a couple does not remove the desire to win. It is a familiar image that makes us smile: after solemn declarations about love, a table and two people convinced of their strategy can say plenty.

The television curiosity will be seeing how they approach the programme. Knowing they are both taking part does not reveal their choices or the outcome. For now, the presentation shows how they describe themselves: united in life, ready to take each other seriously even over a game.

Sharing a relationship does not mean always having the same ideas or reactions. There is room for surprise, a joke and a little rivalry within the rules. Then you go home, where there are different things to organise together.

The surprise Giorgia described

On Verissimo, Palmas explained that they had previously tried for another baby without it happening. That was why the new pregnancy surprised her. It is their experience, told in their own words: we can share their joy without making rules for other women or couples.

Not every wait ends in the same way. Welcoming good news also means finding words that do not make someone struggling feel judged. We can be happy for this family without suggesting that wanting something enough will make it happen, or expecting others to identify with their journey.

Giorgia and Filippo leave us with a concrete scene: two people photographed at a work event, a programme about to begin and a name already chosen but kept private. March is still some way off, yet the baby is already part of their conversations. Their smiles capture this time: everyday life continues while a new place is being prepared at home.
