CLOTHES DON’T MAKE THE SAINT

ELIE SAAB AT H&M: THE RED CARPET COMES TO DINNER!

Lace, sparkle and tailored shapes: the collaboration has arrived. Your favourite look starts when you stop waiting for a gala invitation.

There is a dress you save for an important evening. You look at it, touch it, then shut the wardrobe: too elegant, too bright, too much. What if the important evening were simply the one when you wanted to go out feeling good? Elie Saab H&M offers a starting point between the pleasure of dressing up and the habit of postponing it.

H&M gives 22 October 2026 as the launch date, online and in selected stores. Womenswear, menswear and accessories bring together decorated dresses, lace, sequins and tailoring. The Lebanese designer’s occasionwear language becomes something to interpret beyond the red carpet.

Look at the fit as well as the sparkle

A photograph may make you stop at an embroidery. To decide whether a piece feels right, also notice the shoulders, waist, length and movement. If you can try it on, walk and sit down. A garment needs to work while you live in it, not only while you stand still.

H&M’s Italian styling guide suggests contrasting statement pieces with everyday clothes, including a tuxedo shirt with jeans. That makes a useful starting point: see how a new detail meets something you already love.

Three CHIARA! experiments

First, try a sparkling skirt with a simple knit and a familiar jacket. Look from a little distance before adding more jewellery. One element may already say everything you want. This is an experiment in giving it space, rather than a rule against having fun.

Second, bring an evening accessory into an ordinary afternoon. Start with a plain shirt and comfortable trousers. Then consider your actual day: walking, carrying a bag, spending time outdoors. Style should accompany your movements.

Third, imagine a dress at two real appointments: dinner with a friend and a family celebration. Which jacket would you use? Do you own the shoes? Can you sit without constantly adjusting the neckline or hem? A piece that needs five more purchases may deserve another night’s thought.

A signature is lovely. The decision is yours

Check composition, measurements, care instructions and the return terms that apply to your purchase in Italy. A designer collaboration is not automatically a made-to-measure couture garment. Photographs cannot tell you everything about weight, transparency or comfort.

Before choosing, picture the piece in one of your evenings: Saturday dinner, a birthday, the theatre. Which shoes and jacket would you wear? If they are already in your wardrobe, that is a good start.
