BOVE, LIFE STARTS AGAIN “IN UN BATTITO”: CINEMA TAKES US BEYOND THE PITCH

Who are you when life changes all the plans? The documentary In un battito follows Edoardo Bove in the months after the malore in the field. Presented at the Feast del Cinema in Rome, it arrives in the hall on 16, 17 and 18 November.

An established career, with football at the centre of every day. Then a question no training can prepare you for: who am I if what I have always done suddenly stops? That is one way to approach In un battito, the documentary about Edoardo Bove: looking at the person before the footballer.

From 1 December 2024 to a different daily life

The starting point is Bove’s medical emergency during Fiorentina–Inter on 1 December 2024. The film follows him in the months afterwards, exploring changes in his life, questions about the future and an identity built around football.

Directed by Giovanni Troilo, the film runs for 102 minutes, according to Filmitalia. Its producers include No Name Entertainment, Alea Film, Rai Cinema, Sky and Chiarafama. 01 Distribution handles its Italian release.

When In un battito reaches cinemas

The documentary was presented at Rome Film Fest on Sunday 18 October, at Teatro Olimpico. Its Italian cinema event is scheduled for 16, 17 and 18 November 2026: look for a screening near you and choose someone to go with.

From a personal story to first aid

At the presentation, Bove also discussed a legislative initiative to bring first aid into schools. The proposal still has a legislative path ahead. Meanwhile, his experience raises a question for all of us: would we know how to help?

The question we take into the cinema

A thought from CHIARA! — When someone goes through a difficult time, our first instinct may be to ask when everything will return to normal. Sometimes it would help more to ask how they feel today. A documentary about rebuilding a life invites us to listen without demanding a quick answer or an ending that reassures us.

For believers, a person’s dignity does not depend on performance, talent or applause. It is a thought to keep close outside the cinema, too: at work, while studying or on days when we feel we cannot do enough. Our worth does not stop when we have to stop.

Something practical to do afterwards

Find out about first-aid courses run by qualified organisations in your area. Ask what skills they teach and how the practical training works. A film can leave us moved; we can follow that feeling by learning something useful.
