ARIA LOU: ST FRANCIS BECOMES A SONG!
A spiritual encounter, lasting affection and a musical dedication released on the saint’s feast, 4 October 2026.

“He came looking for me.” Aria Lou tells our editorial team that her new song begins with meeting Francis before really knowing his story. Brotherhood and love of neighbour were already familiar ideas; the bond with the saint came later.
“Francis came looking for me. I didn’t know him: over the years I heard ideas like brotherhood and love of neighbour, but I didn’t know about him. Then he came looking for me and I met him. Then the world swept me away, but he was always there with me, and I love him with all my heart.”
This is an intimate account of faith. Drifting away and finding one another again forms the heart of her musical dedication.

An entire life behind the title
Francis is born in Assisi in 1181 or 1182 into a prosperous cloth-merchant family. War, imprisonment and decisive encounters change his youth. In 1209 he presents Pope Innocent III with his plan to live according to the Gospel.
In the Canticle of the Creatures, sun, water, fire and earth become brothers and sisters. Forgiveness, suffering and death belong within that praise too. In 1219 he travels to Egypt to meet Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil, another sign of his wish to encounter everyone.
Francis dies on the evening of 3 October 1226; his feast is 4 October. After the song, open our special feature. The music tells a present-day bond; the history leads through the saint’s places and life.
