YOUR OFFERING HELPS BUILD COMMUNITY: DISCOVER WHAT YOU SUPPORT!
A small contribution can support parish life. Learning about collections and projects helps us take part with greater understanding.

An open church, a meeting for young people, a room where someone finds a listening ear. Parish life brings together people, time, places and resources to care for. An offering can be part of this shared story.
Perhaps you give a coin during Mass or contribute to a collection announced for a particular project. Knowing its purpose brings the gesture closer: you know which initiative you are supporting and can follow its progress.
Where can you begin?
The parish newsletter, notices, community website or a conversation at the parish office can be useful starting points. Ask which needs are most pressing and which collections are under way.
Purposes vary: an offering for ordinary parish needs differs from a dedicated collection. Canon 1267, paragraph 3, requires offerings given for a specified purpose to be used for that purpose.
Begin with the actual announcement to understand what you are supporting. You might discover an activity you knew little about and another way to join in.
Caring also means keeping accounts
Managing resources is a responsibility. Canons 1284 and 1287 provide for records of income and expenditure, an annual report and accountability to the faithful under applicable rules.
Ask where you can find the accounts or a presentation of parish activities. If an item is unclear, requesting an explanation can help you understand community life. Specific questions make a constructive conversation easier.
Good work needs ordinary things too
Heating a room, making a repair or buying materials for a meeting: some expenses attract little attention but make activities possible. To understand those of your own parish, look at its actual information.
Projects often also depend on donated time and skills. Ask who is involved, what progress has been made and what help is needed now.
Take part within your means
Choose any financial contribution with your needs and responsibilities in mind. If you are going through a difficult period, you can seek support in the community. Receiving help belongs to shared life too.
When you can offer something, whether money, time or a skill, begin with a practical, sustainable commitment. A small gesture can find its place alongside others. It is good to know where it leads.
