CARLO ACUTIS, A SPECIAL SUNDAY: A MASS AND A SONG FOR HIM ON TV2000!
Sunday 11 October at 8.30am: Mass from Assisi, the Foria di Centola Polyphonic Choir and a song about Carlo’s friendship with Jesus.
Twenty years have passed without Carlo, but his message still resonates. At 8.30am on Sunday 11 October, TV2000’s schedule included Mass live from Assisi’s Sanctuary of the Spoliation in his memory. The programme also announced a song dedicated to him: Il mio migliore amico Gesù—“My best friend Jesus”.
The title says so much. For Carlo, Jesus was close: faith belonged to his days of school, friends and computers. The celebration was scheduled on the eve of 12 October, the anniversary of his death in 2006.
A morning of prayer and music from Assisi
Mass was scheduled in Santa Maria Maggiore church, home to the Sanctuary of the Spoliation, where Carlo’s remains rest. Friar Marco Gaballo, the sanctuary’s rector, was the announced celebrant.
The Foria di Centola Polyphonic Choir, directed by Pina D’Alessandro, was announced for the celebration. Il mio migliore amico Gesù is composed and performed by maestro Nicola Napolitano and dedicated to St Carlo.
A song for Carlo and his best friend

Twenty years later, an invitation close to home
Carlo was fifteen when a rapidly progressing leukaemia ended his life. Pope Leo XIV canonised him on 7 September 2025. The celebration scheduled for 11 October invites us to pause over his witness; it is more than a television appointment.
Making room for someone need not mean a spectacular gesture. A call, an agreed offer of help or a few minutes with someone alone can be enough. Small choices still ask us to be truly present.
