ARIANNA FONTANA: MEDALS ARE NOT THE ONLY THING THAT SHINES! ✨
The queen of short track receives an award for something you cannot hang around your neck: the way she wins.

What makes an athlete a role model, beyond victories? The Gentleman Fair Play Award offered an answer by honouring Arianna Fontana, Italy’s queen of short track, with the Gentleman CONI Lombardia Award.
More than a medal tally
Arianna needs no introduction: she has won 14 Olympic medals, becoming Italy’s most decorated athlete ever across the Summer and Winter Games. This time, however, the award looks beyond the medal tally. It considers how those medals were won: with fairness, dedication and respect, race after race, even in the most difficult moments.
She is our cover star
Federico Dimarco and Nico Paz also received awards at the Milan event, while Sandro Mazzola was commemorated during the evening. But for us, the cover belongs to her: a woman who has achieved extraordinary results on the ice for years and who, away from it, reminds us that winning well matters as much as winning.
